Bijna gelijk met de bioscooprelease van Shrek 2, het vervolg op de succesvolle en bekroonde animatiefilm (Academy award voor Beste lange animatiefilm 2001), komt er een bijzondere speciale editie uit van het eerste deel*. Behalve de volledige film bevatten de twee dvd's ook een twaalf minuten durend vervolg, The honeymoon adventure, waarin de geest van de verslagen lord Farquaad wraak komt nemen op het grote groene monster Shrek, de prinses en de ezel. Dit alles in 3D, waarvoor speciale brillen worden meegeleverd. Verder zijn er nog verschillende interessante extra's. De regie is wederom van Andrew Adamson en Victoria Jensen en de stemmen van o.a. Eddie Murphy en Cameron Diaz.

Andrew Ralph Adamson (born 1 December 1966) is a New Zealander film director, producer and screenwriter based mainly in Los Angeles, where he directed the Academy Award-winning animated films Shrek and Shrek 2. He was director, executive producer, and scriptwriter for the 2005 production of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. He also worked on the movies Batman Forever and Batman & Robin as a visual effects supervisor.

He was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to film, in the 2006 Queen's Birthday Honours.

Personal life

Adamson's parents were a homemaker and a computer engineer. Born in New Zealand, Adamson moved to Papua New Guinea with his parents aged eleven, and he returned to Auckland aged eighteen.
