Een drama uit 2009 van Joe Wright (Atonement; Pride & prejudice) met in de hoofdrollen Jamie Foxx (The kingdom; Dreamgirls) en Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes; Iron man). De film vertelt het waargebeurde verhaal van Steve Lopez, columnist bij de Los Angeles Times, die op zoek naar een goed 'human interest' verhaal in contact komt met Nathaniel Ayers, een schizofrene dakloze die virtuoos viool speelt. Lopez raakt geïntrigeerd door deze man en probeert hem te helpen. Floortje Smit (Volkskrant 20-10-'10) prijst het acteren van Downey en Foxx, de inkijk in de daklozenwereld van Los Angeles en het 'prettig ambivalente' einde. Maar zij vindt ook dat Wright 'bij vlagen oversentimenteel' is. Met extra's, waaronder commentaar van de regisseur.

Joseph Wright (born 25 August 1972) is a British film director residing in Somerset, England. His motion pictures include the literary adaptations Pride & Prejudice (2005) and Anna Karenina (2012), the romantic war drama Atonement (2007), the action thriller Hanna (2011), Peter Pan origin story Pan (2015), and Darkest Hour (2017), a political drama following Winston Churchill during World War II.

Early life and career

Wright always had an interest in the arts, especially painting. He would also make films on his Super 8 camera as well as spend time in the evenings acting in a drama club. Wright is dyslexic. He went to Islington Green Secondary School, but left without any GCSEs.
