Derde deel (2003) van de filmtrilogie naar de boeken van J.R.R. Tolkien, ook deze keer geregisseerd door Peter Jackson, met o.a. Elijah Wood, Sean Astin en Ian McKellen. Hobbit Frodo die in het bezit is van een bijzondere ring moet in opdracht van tovenaar Gandalf een lange tocht maken naar Mordor en Mount Doom om de ring te vernietigen, zodat hij niet in handen valt van Sauron die met deze ring iedereen tot slaaf kan maken. In dit laatste deel beëindigt hij samen met Sam en Gollem zijn gevaarlijke reis. Winnaar van elf Oscars waaronder Beste film en Beste regie. Deze heruitgave in de reeks 'Quality film collection' bevat geen extra's.
