Amerikaanse verfilming van het ooggetuigenverslag van de Hongaarse jood, dr. Miklos Nyiszli. De film werd gemaakt in 2001 door Tim Blake Nelson, met David Arquette, Daniel Benzali, Steve Buscemi, Harvey Keitel e.v.a. Dr. Nyiszli moest dr. Mengele helpen bij het uitvoeren van medische experimenten op kampgevangenen in Auschwitz II-Birkenau. De film volgt de gebeurtenissen rond het 12e Sonderkommando dat vnl. bestond uit Hongaren die in ruil voor privileges in het kamp moesten helpen bij de gaskamers om na vier maanden zelf vernietigd te worden.
